Su inter\u00e9s por las artes comenz\u00f3 desde peque\u00f1o, pronto se dio a conocer en el medio cultural como director de teatro. Luego de una amplia y valiosa temporada como dramaturgo, en 1941 dirigi\u00f3 su primer largometraje, la comedia<em style=\"line-height: 22.72px;\">\u00a1Ay qu\u00e9 tiempos, se\u00f1or don Sim\u00f3n!<\/em>, un \u00e9xito en taquilla que recaud\u00f3 la cifra r\u00e9cord de poco m\u00e1s de 137 mil pesos de ese entonces.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 22.72px;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 18.46px; margin-bottom: 1.35em; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 22.72px;\">Gracias al \u00e9xito obtenido dirigi\u00f3&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.72px;\">Historia de un gran amor<\/em>&nbsp;(1942), adaptaci\u00f3n cinematogr\u00e1fica de la novela&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.72px;\">El ni\u00f1o de la bola<\/em>, de Pedro Antonio de Alarc\u00f3n. Posteriormente realiz\u00f3, bajo el auspicio de la productora Films Mundiales,&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.72px;\">La Virgen que forj\u00f3 una patria<\/em>&nbsp;(1942),&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.72px;\">Distinto amanecer<\/em>&nbsp;(1943) y&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.72px;\">La corte de Fara\u00f3n<\/em>&nbsp;(1944). Eduardo de la Vega Alfaro se\u00f1ala que&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.72px;\">Distinto amanecer<\/em>&nbsp;es una obra cumbre que coloca a Bracho como un cineasta aut\u00e9ntico: \u201ces, con mucho, una plena obra \u00abde autor\u00bb en la medida en que refleja con fidelidad el tipo de vida urbana clase media y culterana de la que Bracho era un digno representante, la cinta ha trascendido su \u00e9poca justo por el s\u00f3lido retrato de mentalidades citadinas de un sector social que hasta ese momento hab\u00eda sido visto de manera muy tangencial por el cine mexicano.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 22.72px;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 18.46px; margin-bottom: 1.35em; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 22.72px;\">En su siguiente pel\u00edcula,&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.72px;\">Crep\u00fasculo<\/em>&nbsp;(1945), Bracho consolid\u00f3 su estilo y lo posicion\u00f3 como uno de los directores representativos de la llamada \u00c9poca de Oro del Cine Mexicano. Sin embargo, fue con<em style=\"line-height: 22.72px;\">Rosenda&nbsp;<\/em>(1948) que alcanz\u00f3 uno de los puntos m\u00e1s altos de su carrera cinematogr\u00e1fica. Basada en un texto hom\u00f3nimo del michoacano Jos\u00e9 Rub\u00e9n Romero y producida por Salvador Elizondo, la pel\u00edcula muestra la destreza y madurez lograda por Bracho, De la Vega destaca: \u201cla trascendencia de&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.72px;\">Rosenda<\/em>&nbsp;radica justamente en haber sido un campo de experimentaci\u00f3n formal para su ambicioso y culto realizador, mucho m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de las vicisitudes del buen relato costumbrista y rom\u00e1ntico en el que se bas\u00f3\u201d.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 22.72px;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 18.46px; margin-bottom: 1.35em; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 22.72px;\">El periodo de 1949 a 1959, en el que la \u00e9poca dorada del cine mexicano fue en decadencia, Bracho dirigi\u00f3 m\u00e1s de 20 melodramas, la mayor\u00eda convencionales y alejados de las preocupaciones propias. No obstante, en 1960 lleg\u00f3 la oportunidad que hab\u00eda esperado desde hac\u00eda tiempo para llevar a la pantalla grande&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.72px;\">La sombra del caudillo<\/em>, novela hom\u00f3nima de Mart\u00edn Luis Guzm\u00e1n. La coyuntura pol\u00edtica en M\u00e9xico impidi\u00f3 que la pel\u00edcula fuera exhibida en la salas cinematogr\u00e1ficas del pa\u00eds. Esperando el estreno de su filme, realiz\u00f3 otros 12 largometrajes y muri\u00f3 el 26 de abril de 1978 en la Ciudad de M\u00e9xico. Despu\u00e9s de una censura prolongada por 30 a\u00f1os,&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.72px;\">La sombra del caudillo<\/em>fue estrenada en M\u00e9xico en 1990.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 22.72px;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 18.46px; margin-bottom: 1.35em; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 22.72px;\">Adem\u00e1s, en el marco del 14\u00ba FICM se realizar\u00e1 la exposici\u00f3n fotogr\u00e1fica&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.72px;\">Julio Bracho, el misterio de la luz crepuscular<\/em>, con im\u00e1genes del archivo de Fundaci\u00f3n Televisa.
