Ser\u00e1&nbsp;<strong style=\"line-height: 22.7199993133545px;\">impartido por<\/strong><strong style=\"line-height: 22.7199993133545px;\">David R. Maciel,<\/strong>&nbsp;Doctor Em\u00e9rito en Historia por la Universidad de California, y<strong style=\"line-height: 22.7199993133545px;\">tendr\u00e1 lugar en la Sala 5, Matilde Landeta, del 16 de julio al 27 de agosto, los martes y jueves de 18:00 a 21:00 horas.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; line-height: 22.7199993133545px; margin-bottom: 1.35em; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Sucesos como la expansi\u00f3n de la frontera en el siglo XIX y la guerra del 47 ha capturado la imaginaci\u00f3n estadounidense a trav\u00e9s de varias manifestaciones culturales, incluyendo el cine. Es por ello que una de las tem\u00e1ticas retomadas por este g\u00e9nero es la historia estadunidense.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; line-height: 22.7199993133545px; margin-bottom: 1.35em; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">En el temario se incluyen pel\u00edculas como&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.7199993133545px;\">The Ox Bow Incident<\/em>&nbsp;(William A. Wellman, 1943),&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.7199993133545px;\">Solo ante el peligro<\/em>&nbsp;(High Noon, Fred Zinnermann, 1952),<em style=\"line-height: 22.7199993133545px;\">Duelo en la alta sierra<\/em>&nbsp;(Ride the High Country, Sam Peckinpah, 1962) y&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.7199993133545px;\">La diligencia<\/em>&nbsp;(Stagecoach, John Ford, 1939), pel\u00edcula basada en un relato de Ernest Haycox y considerada por la cr\u00edtica como un cl\u00e1sico del cine mundial.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; line-height: 22.7199993133545px; margin-bottom: 1.35em; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Durante las d\u00e9cadas de los sesenta y setenta, surgi\u00f3 en Italia el llamado &#8216;spagetti&nbsp;<span class=\"ecxil\" style=\"line-height: 22.7199993133545px;\">western<\/span>&#8216;. Este subg\u00e9nero agrupa a pel\u00edculas de bajo presupuesto y que fueron filmadas en locaciones que remit\u00edan a las utilizadas en Norteam\u00e9rica. Adem\u00e1s se caracterizan por una violencia m\u00e1s marcada. De esta categor\u00eda se estudiar\u00e1 la pel\u00edcula de Sergio Leone,&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.7199993133545px;\">Por un pu\u00f1ado de d\u00f3lares<\/em>&nbsp;(Per un pugno di dollari, 1964).&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; line-height: 22.7199993133545px; margin-bottom: 1.35em; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">En el curso se retomar\u00e1 el revisionismo, t\u00e9rmino que se utiliza para designar a los filmes que cambian la concepci\u00f3n tradicional del g\u00e9nero,&nbsp; con el argumento de que no todos los westerns ten\u00edan que llevarse a cabo en el Oeste, debido a esto algunos cineastas aprovecharon la l\u00ednea por la que se encaminaba el g\u00e9nero para criticar a la sociedad estadunidense y sus valores&nbsp; a trav\u00e9s de sus pel\u00edculas.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; line-height: 22.7199993133545px; margin-bottom: 1.35em; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Otros t\u00edtulos que complementan el programa son<em style=\"line-height: 22.7199993133545px;\">&nbsp;R\u00e1pida y mortal<\/em>&nbsp;(The Quick and the Dead, Sam Raimi, 1995),<em style=\"line-height: 22.7199993133545px;\">&nbsp;Lonestar&nbsp;<\/em>(John Sayles,1996), y&nbsp;<em style=\"line-height: 22.7199993133545px;\">Sin lugar para los d\u00e9biles<\/em>&nbsp;(No Country for Old Men, Joel y Ethan Coen,2007), esta \u00faltima ganadora de un \u00d3scar en la categor\u00eda de mejor pel\u00edcula en el 2007.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; line-height: 22.7199993133545px; margin-bottom: 1.35em; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">David R. Maciel cuenta con estudios Latinoamericanos en la Universidad de Arizona y es un destacado experto de la cultura chicana y fronteriza, un tema sobre el cual ha escrito numerosos art\u00edculos y libros.
